Partnership Turnaround
Partnership turnaround, is a specialist discipline, undertaken by what the insolvency industry terms 'turnaround accountants'. They market themselves as uniquely placed and experienced in saving businesses, without the need on all occasions for the partnership or company in question to enter a formal insolvency arrangement.
They do this by charging an hourly rate, or taking a commission from the sale of assets which may be offloaded to help reduce debt.
They assist partnerships in turning themselves around by a combination of cost cutting, and expenditure reduction, with sales increases and efficiencies. They are able to offer industry specific advice in the main, and can often see where changes can be made, more easily than the existing management, who may be too close to a problem to see the solution.
They will be able to have those difficult conversations with staff, which the company's own line managers, may have found difficult. They can instil changes in performance and culture which have be found to work in other comparable sectors.
It can be extremely problematic for a partnership to become insolvent as it will often necessitate, formal insolvency arrangements for each of the partners, such as IVA's to make sure that all debt, both personal and business is dealt with, to remove any chance, that a rogue creditor could take individual enforcement action against one partner, which could scupper the finances of all the others.
By putting in early turnaround expertise, it may be that sufficient savings and increased sales can be generated to revive the business. Even if that is not the case, it will have the effect of driving a new culture through the business which would have a beneficial effect on the firm going forward.
