Why Paying Your Credit Card Bills Is Important

Credit cards can give you the convenience of being able to buy things without the need for cash. Although having a credit card can be a luxury, it can also have a negative impact especially on your credit score if you ever are in a situation where you can't keep up with your payments. Eventually your bills may pile up and you will find yourself unable to settle the balance.

Sooner or later, you will realize that your monthly bills are not going down. To some the most logical thing to do is to stop paying the bills. But then again, not paying the balance may leave you in debt and this could damage your credit score. Likewise, you could be bombarded with telephone calls from collection agencies demanding the immediate payment of your balance.

In addition, the card company could send you a demand letter and even threatening to sue you and have you arrested. Bear in mind that collection agencies cannot use these tactics against you. So you can always invoke your right and tell them to stop harassing you.

Moreover, the creditor will call you at work and demand payment from you which is another illegal action. In order to force you to settle your balance, the collection firm will also tell you that they will file legal action but will never resort to that because of the costly nature of court proceedings.

So if you are considering not settling your credit card balance, think twice. Aside from the many inconveniences, it can also badly damage your credit score.
